York Region’s extensive network of trails and forests are among the Region’s most cherished attractions. Born of ancient routes used by First Nations, the trail network now extends throughout each of the nine cities and towns. Trail explorers can choose between paved urban trails or rugged forest paths. Hikers will be amazed at the diverse landscape, wildlife and vegetation waiting to be appreciated. Explore the Oak Ridges Moraine trail, kettle lakes, wetlands, forests and a variety of other points of interest.

Aurora
Public open spaces within Aurora range from landscaped public parks to environmentally sensitive river valleys meandering throughout the municipality and the Oak Ridges Moraine. The Town of Aurora Parks Division manages more than 46 parks encompassing more than 700 acres. Connecting many of the parks is a trail system of approximately 57 kilometres designed to accommodate joggers, hikers and skiers.

East Gwillimbury
There is much to see and do in East Gwillimbury’s rural and natural areas. Enjoy daily nature hikes, get a taste of farm life or take a spirited bike ride along one of many trails.
Georgina
Georgina offers a range of trail experiences and places to discover. These trails provide opportunities to explore local neighbourhoods and discover nearby natural areas. The majority of the Town of Georgina’s trails are multi-use which are suitable for walking, hiking, jogging and cycling. Trail terrain ranges from compact gravel surfaces to asphalt sections through local neighbourhoods
King
Markham
Markham has more than 22 kilometres of scenic pathways that provide access for walkers, joggers and cyclists. The City takes pride in keeping Markham beautiful. The parks and public green spaces promote an active and healthy quality of life. The natural, unmanicured spaces in the community including woodlots, ravines and valleys, benefit the residents, plants and animals. These spaces are home to rare plant and insect species and provide specialized foods and shelters to many types of native birds, bees and butterflies for survival.

Newmarket
Take advantage of all that nature offers on Newmarket’s trails. See the sights and experience the beauty of the great outdoors – birds, flowers, trees and fresh air. Cycle, run, walk or blade your way as you discover the extensive network of trails. There are several rest stops with benches and washroom facilities along the way. Trails are well lit, cleared and maintained throughout the year.

Richmond Hill
Richmond Hill has many parks, open spaces and trails. By navigating through recreational and natural heritage, residents and visitors are sure to experience the sights and sounds of the natural world.

Vaughan
Vaughan has more than 37 kilometres of trails. Residents and visitors may choose to explore natural habitats and rolling hills, learn about cultural and heritage resources or access parks and recreational facilities. Explorers can ride along the Don River or the Humber River, go hiking, enjoy a quiet stroll along a picturesque pond, discover a special marsh, a wooden forest, a nature reserve or an art gallery.
Whitchurch-Stouffville
There are many trails throughout the community, both local and Regional. Whitchurch-Stouffville is in the process of developing an extensive trail system to connect many of the trails to large forested areas in York Region.
