Sustainable Mobility Plan
Let’s shift to sustainable ways to travel in York Region.
The Sustainable Mobility Plan outlines York Region’s efforts to promote walking, cycling, transit, carpooling, micromobility and other travel options besides single-occupant vehicles.
People are looking for more sustainable ways to get to work, school, stores, social gatherings, and other destinations due to road congestion, concerns about climate change, air pollution, the cost of a single-occupant vehicle trip and finding more active ways of travelling.
The plan outlines how:
- How transit, cycling, walking and carpooling are all more sustainable travel options compared to single-occupancy vehicle trips
- How these options contribute to healthier communities while making the road network less congested
- Small investments in programs and infrastructure to expand these options benefit residents and communities
