York Regional Forest Walks and Events

York Regional Forest's guided walks and events are designed for various age groups, residents and visitors. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult and registration opens one month in advance. While these events usually proceed rain or shine, extreme weather conditions may lead to cancellations. Registered participants will be notified of any event changes through their provided contact information.

The Bill Fisch Forest Stewardship and Education Centre will be open to all visitors during all guided walks and events, offering a fantastic opportunity to learn and explore.

Indigenous Storytelling in the Forest

Join Creators Garden on a storytelling walk through landscapes that Anishinaabek have walked for thousands of years prior to settlement. Discover what good relationships with animals look like, what benefit plants provide us – even in the depths of winter – and how we can engage in meaningful relationships with the natural world. Explore these topics and so much more!

Winter Tree Discovery

Join us on a magical winter walk through the York Regional Forest with LEAF. Discover the secrets of the trees as you SPRUCE up your tree identification skills. Finish off your adventure by hearing some fun and fascinating winter facts while you enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate. Extra marshmallows included!

These kits are offered on a first-come, first-served basis at local city or town libraries while supplies last. Residents are advised to contact their library for availability.
