Road resurfacing
The Regional Municipality of York maintains the excellent condition of Regional roads for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users. York Region is making improvements to Bayview Avenue/Prospect Street, from Mulock Drive to Gorham Street in the Town of Newmarket.
Construction is anticipated to begin early June and is expected to be completed fall 2021. This work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or delays related to COVID-19 and Public Health guidelines.
York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.
Road improvements include:
- Removal of the top asphalt
- Laying of new asphalt
- Upgrading pedestrian features including push buttons, curb depressions and tactile (textured) walkways at signalized intersections
Bayview Avenue/Prospect Street will remain open to traffic throughout construction, and access to residences and businesses will be maintained. However, to accommodate construction, lane restrictions may be required on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Safety is a priority so please slow down through construction areas.
