Make Rental Challenge and Housing Symposium
The Regional Municipality of York in partnership with the Human Services Planning Board (HSPB) congratulates all teams who participated in the 2014 Make Rental Happen Challenge. The awards were announced at an awards and housing symposium on Friday, June 20 in Richmond Hill. Watch the videos below of the jury deliberations and the top entries for the Challenge.
Winners of the Make Rental Happen Challenge:
Brick, Mortar, and Iron from the University of Guelph included Daniel Foch and Kyle Foch. “Think Outside the Box” took home first place and $5,000.
Honourable mentions
Institute Without Boundaries from George Brown College included Robert Iacocca, Helaena Parkes, Devin Sager, Francesca Anderson, Andrea Herrera Betancourt, and Theresa Kienitz. “Habi House” received an honourable mention and $1,000 in prize money.
EAT: Emerging Architectural Thinkers from Yale University included Cecilia Hui. Cecilia’s “The Community Towers” also received an honourable mention and $1,000 in prize money.

Jury Members
In addition to potential financial awards, entering this challenge gives students an opportunity to capture the attention of a five member jury panel of leading public and private sector professionals. Student submissions will be evaluated by the jury resulting in first place, second place, and third place winners.
