Celebrating Local Food Week with the York Farm Fresh Guide Map!
Summer just got a whole lot fresher (and tastier) – the York Farm Fresh 2022 Guide Map is hot off the press just in time for Local Food Week!
During Local Food Week we celebrate and recognize the hardworking farmers who keep food on our plates and support healthy communities. Not only is local food fresher and better for the environment, but when you eat local, you support the many farms that call York Region home.
The York Farm Fresh Guide Map serves as a guide to finding locally grown and produced farm fresh products across York Region. It lists 38 farms, farmers’ markets and driving routes to help you easily source a variety of local food.
Maps are available at member farms, farmers' markets and online. You can also download the new mobile app and take the map with you on the go! Free download is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and is translated from English into seven languages to help our diverse communities find local food nearby.
York Farm Fresh is also renewing their Passport to Fresh contest encouraging you to visit as many of the farms on the map as possible for a chance to win a Thanksgiving Harvest Basket valued at $250. With every farm you visit, collect virtual stamps from one of the routes by taking a photo at the farm or of products purchased.
Supporting York Farm Fresh is just one of the many ways York Region is committed to growing the agriculture and agri-food sector and helping residents find fresh, local food. The broader agri-food sector – everything from farms to food processors, grocery stores and restaurants – provides approximately 57,000 jobs and contributes $2.7 billion in GDP.
