Celebrating the dedication and compassion of nurses
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I am honoured to recognize May 12 to 18, 2025, as National Nursing Week.
This year’s theme, The Power of Nurses to Transform Health, highlights the profound impact nurses have in shaping our health care system, driving innovation and advocating for patient-centred care. Nurses are at the heart of our health services, providing compassionate, skilled and dedicated care to residents across our communities.
In York Region, our public health and long-term care nurses exemplify this transformative power. Public health nurses work tirelessly to promote health and prevent disease, delivering essential programs and services that enhance the well-being of our communities. Long-term care nurses provide continuous, compassionate support to our seniors, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care in a respectful and dignified environment.
Their unwavering commitment, especially in challenging times, has been instrumental in safeguarding the health of our residents. Their efforts not only improve individual lives but also strengthen the overall resilience of our health care system.
As we celebrate National Nursing Week, we extend our deepest gratitude to all nurses across York Region. Your dedication and professionalism are vital to the health and safety of our communities.
