Major Mackenzie Drive
Highway 400 to Jane Street
Construction start: October 2020
Anticipated completion: late 2023
The Regional Municipality of York is investing in building a safe, efficient and reliable Regional transportation network for all users. Improvements to Major Mackenzie Drive from Highway 400 to Jane Street in the City of Vaughan began in fall 2020 to accommodate growth, improve traffic flow and provide more travel options for all.

Improvements include:
- Widening from four to six lanes
- Widening and rehabilitating the two bridges located both east and west of Wellness Way and Amusement Drive
- Reconfiguring the bridge over Highway 400 including adjusting and reconfiguring the on/off ramps
- Enhancing the existing boulevards, including upgrading sidewalks, crosswalks, street lighting and tree planting
- Installing a dedicated multi-use path. The existing path west of Highway 400, will be extended east over Highway 400 to Jane Street
Construction Update
- May 6 for approximately two to three weeks:
- The north/south crossing on the west side of Jane Street and the east/west crossing on the north side of Major Mackenzie Drive are closed for curb/sidewalk work
- Pedestrians can use the crossings on the south and east sides of the intersection following all detour signage

- Starting July 26: Intersection crossings on the south side of Major Mackenzie Drive at Jane Street are closed. Pedestrians/cyclists follow the temporary sidewalks as marked.

The Major Mackenzie Drive improvements are being undertaken in stages to minimize disruption to the travelling public and integrate with the other adjacent projects in the area.
