16th Avenue Sewer Rehabilitation, Phase Two - Notice of Temporary Lane Closure
The Regional Municipality of York is rehabilitating a 1.5 kilometre section of the York Durham Sewage System that runs on 16th Avenue from Mingay Avenue to west of Williamson Road in the City of Markham. The work involves installing a temporary sewage bypass pipe, rehabilitating two access shafts, relining the trunk sewer, and other work.
The sewage bypass pipe has been installed under the Metrolinx railway crossing east of Highway 48/Markham Road on 16th Avenue. As part of the work, the road and sidewalk impacted by the installation of the sewage bypass pipe will be temporarily restored.
As a result, the westbound lanes of 16th Avenue between Ninth Line and Highway 48/Markham Road will be temporarily closed overnight between, Wednesday, February 8 and Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Lane closures will only affect westbound traffic travelling from Ninth Line to Highway 48/Markham Road on 16th Avenue.
