Canada Post Labour Disruption Impact to York Region Services
The Regional Municipality of York is notifying residents that all incoming and outgoing mail will be affected by a national service disruption at Canada Post.
Due to a Canada Post labour disruption, effective Friday, November 15, at 12:01 a.m., the Region will not send large distribution mailings, such as notices, immunization letters, including suspension orders, and tickets. Incoming mail from Canada Post will be suspended.
During the Canada Post labour disruption, alternative ways to access impacted York Region services include:
Ontario Works
Ontario Works (OW) financial assistance cheques and statements cannot be mailed during the labour disruption. Cheques for December payments will be processed and held in local offices pending a resolution, and may be picked up starting Wednesday, November 27 after 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, November 29, and then again the following week. Individuals receiving OW payments through direct deposit will receive payment into a bank account, as usual. Those that receive OW payments via Reloadable Payment Card (RPC) will receive payment as usual.

York Region Transit
York Region Transit (YRT) customers seeking eligibility for Mobility On-Request Paratransit can drop off applications at York Region Transit (Mobility On-Request) headquarters at 55 Orlando Avenue in the City of Richmond Hill during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Court Services
Payments can be made online at paytickets.ca, by phone at 905-898-0425 or 1-877-331-3309 (Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or in person at York Region’s courthouse, Newmarket 4960, at 17150 Yonge Street in the Town of Newmarket.
Requests for trial or submittal of other applications can be made through @email or in person at York Region’s courthouse.

Public Health

Housing
Applications for subsidized housing can be submitted on the Applying for Subsidized Housing page. Paper application forms can be picked up and returned once completed, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at the following York Region office locations:

- Keswick: 244262 Woodbine Ave (main floor reception desk)
- Richmond Hill: 50 High Tech Rd (3rd floor reception desk)
- Vaughan: 9060 Jane St (mail floor reception)
Completed applications can also be faxed to 905-830-5023, emailed to @email or placed in the 24-hour Drop Box outside the main entrance of 17150 Yonge Street in the Town of Newmarket
