Financial assistance available to eligible families for recreation programs
There are plenty of ways to keep children active (and learning!) this spring. York Region is here to help eligible families cover the cost. Recreation subsidies are available to children ages four to 18 and single parents living with low income.
Families must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Receive a Rent Subsidy (including STAR and Ontario Housing Benefit)
- Receive Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
- Receive Child Care Fee Subsidy with an annual income of $36,000 or less
Subsidies can be used towards a variety of municipal recreation programs, including skating, baking, sports, art classes and more! For a full list of programming and activities available during this time, please check with your local municipality.
The amount of funding for 2023 is $140 per season. If you have already been determined eligible for the current school year, please contact your local municipality to register for programming.
