Plan a summer camp experience for your kids with support from York Region
While the weather outside may still be frightful, it’s the perfect time to start planning a summer camp experience for your kids! Think heading outside, meeting new friends and engaging in fun recreational activities. York Region helps pay for summer programs like day and overnight camps for eligible families.
The following supports are available:
- Summer Day Camp – Available for children aged four to 12 to attend municipal camps that operate during July and August
- Youth Overnight Camp – Available for children aged 12 to 17 to attend camps during July and August
This support helps families with low income the ability to take part in programs offered by municipal recreation departments. Please check with your local municipal recreation department for updates to summer camp programming options.
Who is eligible?
Families who live in York Region, who have children and meet at least one of the following criteria may be eligible:
- Receive Rent Subsidy (York Region RGI or Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit)
- Receive Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
- Receive Child Care Fee Subsidy with an income less than $43,000 (Youth Overnight Camp only)
If you receive Child Care Fee Subsidy with an annual income of $43,000 or less, reach out to your CSR to confirm if you are eligible for recreation subsidies.
