York Region tackling potholes after difficult winter conditions
After another winter marked by heavy snowfall, frequent freeze-thaw cycles and prolonged cold temperatures, York Region’s roads are feeling the strain. This year’s weather has created ideal conditions for potholes to form, resulting in higher number of areas needing repair across the Region.
York Region’s road crews are always ready, no matter the challenge. Crews have been patrolling 24 hours a day, seven days a week, monitoring road conditions, identifying potholes and prioritizing repairs. As temperatures rise above freezing, our teams have ramped up repair operations to ensure smoother and safer travel for all road users.
Our patrol trucks use digital tools to help detect and flag potholes in real time. While crews are hard at work filling potholes, repairing shoulders and making other essential improvements, we ask all travellers to please focus on road safety for them and slow down driving through work zones.
Preventative maintenance, including timely pothole repairs, plays a crucial role in extending the life of our roads and reducing the need for emergency repairs. With travellers help and awareness, we’re working together to keep York Region’s roads in good condition through every season.
Travellers can report a pothole or a problem on Regional roads through the Report a Problem App, by contacting 1-877-464-9675 ext. 75200 or emailing [email protected]
