Holland River Bridge Rehabilitation - February Update
York Region continues with urgent repairs to the Holland River Bridge, at the boundary of the Township of King and Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, jointly owned with Simcoe County.
Work includes repairing and replacing structural components of the bridge, including the deck, girders and expansion joints. Traffic lanes have been reduced to one lane in each direction while work is happening.
Construction Schedule
Stage 1 Progress
Specialized equipment was used to install deep micropiles in stable soil underwater. Repairs to the bridge girders, installation of the west expansion joint and deck slab connection on the south side of the bridge is complete. Work continues on the east expansion joint and deck slab and the next steps are waterproofing and paving. Stage 1 work is expected to be complete by the end of February 2026.
Stage 2 Update
The remaining work to repair bridge girders, strengthen the pile foundation, replace expansion joints, waterproofing and paving on the north side of the bridge will begin after Stage 1 is complete and is expected to be done by late spring 2026. Traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane and shifted to the south side of the bridge.
Impacts to Travellers
Traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction until the project is complete. Travel impacts include:
- Traffic shifted to the south side of the bridge
- Turning-restrictions and temporary closure of Toll Road to through traffic will continue
- Restricted left turn from Highway 11 to Canal Road and from Canal Road to Bridge Street
- No stopping on:
- Canal Road between Bridge Street and Pumphouse Road
- Pumphouse Road near Graham Sideroad to the south and near Canal Road to the north
- Graham Sideroad just east of Pumphouse Road
Travellers will continue to expect delays and should allow for extra travel time. The Region is monitoring traffic conditions and making adjustments to help with the flow of traffic.
