Road resurfacing
The Regional Municipality of York maintains the excellent condition of Regional roads for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users. York Region is making improvements to Wellington Street, from Dufferin Street to Bathurst Street in the Township of King.
Construction is anticipated to begin early June and is expected to be completed fall 2021. This work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or delays related to COVID-19 and Public Health guidelines. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.
Road improvements include:
- Removal of the top asphalt
- Laying of new asphalt
- Paved shoulders
- Upgrading pedestrian features including curb depressions and tactile (textured) walkways at the Dufferin Street intersection
Wellington Street West will remain open to traffic throughout construction, and access to residences and businesses will be maintained. However, to accommodate construction, lane restrictions may be required on weekdays and weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Safety is a priority so please slow down through construction areas.
