York Region celebrates personal support workers
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, it is my pleasure to recognize May 19, 2022, as Personal Support Worker Day in York Region.
Personal Support Worker (PSW) Day is an opportunity to recognize and raise awareness of work of personal support workers in sustaining our health care system, while also providing high-quality community and home-based care.
Whether in hospitals, long-term care, congregate living, community or a home care setting, PSWs provide compassionate care, respect and dignity in support of some of our most vulnerable residents. Through the COVID-19 global pandemic, PSWs served on the front lines, demonstrating their dedication and commitment to delivering this essential service.
This selfless dedication to the care of others is an invaluable part of our health and social systems, and the contributions PSWs make to the lives of residents is immeasurable. Through their commitment, PSWs provide many in our communities with the choice and confidence to be cared for at home, especially our seniors.
On behalf of Regional Council and our residents, I extend our deepest appreciation to all York Region Personal Support Workers and thank them for providing compassionate community care and helping make York Region a strong, caring and safe community.
