York Regional Forest Walks and Events

discover your forest

York Region has cancelled 2020 in-person forest walks and events due to COVID-19. Although many walks and events have been cancelled, all 21 public forest tracts with 120 kilometres are open! Spending time in nature provides health benefits such as stress relief, improved memory and attention span.

How to Prepare for Your Visit

To ensure your safety and the safety of others please:

  • Stay on trails to reduce risk and exposure to poison ivy and blacklegged ticks
  • Wear insect repellent, closed-toed footwear, light coloured, long sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into your socks
  • Check weather forecasts and dress accordingly
  • Practice physical distancing of a least 2-metres
  • Practice proper hand hygiene
  • For more information about the forest tracts visit

Feedback Survey

If you attended an event in early 2020, or picked up a Discover Your Forest Kit in September please tell us what you think. To say “thank you”, you have the option to enter a draw for a chance to win a $100 grocery store gift card.
