Water and Wastewater Construction Projects
Notice:
York Region’s number one priority remains protecting the health and safety of staff and all our communities. As we monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation in York Region, we continue to deliver essential services while staying current with all health and safety-related information and complying with guidelines related to COVID-19 published by the Ontario Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and York Region Public Health.
York Region has scheduled projects for building water and wastewater structures and facilities over the next 10 years. This 10 Year Capital Construction Program has been designed to meet the needs of York Region’s rapidly growing population.

Clean Water and Wastewater Fund
York Region is anticipated to receive approximately $35 million in funding for several water and wastewater capital projects through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund (CWWF).
The Clean Water and Wastewater Fund provides funding to projects that contribute to the rehabilitation of both water treatment and distribution infrastructure and existing wastewater and storm water treatment systems; collection and conveyance infrastructure; and initiatives that improve asset management, system optimization, and planning for future upgrades to water and wastewater systems.

16th Avenue Sewer System Rehabilitation
York Region is conducting a full sewer rehabilitation of the existing sanitary sewer on 16th Avenue between Mingay Avenue and 9th Line, in the City of Markham. Register for the mailing list to receive project updates.
Phase Two:
Between west of Williamson Road and west of Mingay Avenue.

Aurora Sewage Pumping Station
York Region is installing two new sewage pumps to increase wastewater servicing capacity in Aurora.

Aurora Stormwater Management Facility Retrofit
York Region, in partnership with the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and the Town of Aurora, will be retrofitting the Tamarac Park Stormwater Management Facility.

Ballantrae Groundwater Monitoring Well Improvements
York Region will be working in your community, constructing two new groundwater monitoring wells as part of the Ballantrae Groundwater Resource Evaluation Project to assess options for improving overall municipal water supply quality in the Community of Ballantrae.

Bayview Water Pumping Station Upgrades in the City of Markham
York Region is improving the Bayview Water Pumping Station located at 8171 Bayview Avenue. The work will extend the life of the pumping station and support the continued supply of safe, quality drinking water to your community.

Georgina Water Treatment Plant
To support rehabilitation work at the Georgina Water Treatment Plant in the Town of Georgina, York Region is conducting field studies along Kennedy Road and adjacent lands. The work will ensure the facility can reliably meet water demand of the local community.

Keswick Sewage Pumping Station and Forcemain Upgrades
Improvements are coming to upgrade the Keswick Sewage Pumping Station and overflow pipe. The upgrades will not impact wastewater services to residents and the station will remain operational during the work.

Leslie Street Trunk Sewer Rehabilitation
York Region is working on a section of the Leslie Street Trunk Sewer, located at 8111 Leslie Street. The maintenance work will extend the life of the sewer.

Morton Avenue Air Management Facility Upgrades
Newmarket Magna Elevated Tank Upgrades
Work includes upgrading the mechanical and electrical systems at the Newmarket, Magna Elevated Tank located at 1030 Ivsbridge Boulevard. This work will extend the lifespan of the elevated water tank and ensure the continued supply of safe, quality drinking water to your community.

Ninth Line and Kenilworth Gate Wastewater Chamber Upgrades
Work includes upgrading a wastewater chamber to ensure continued delivery of reliable wastewater services in the City of Markham.

Ninth Line Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation
York Region is working in your community rehabilitating the Ninth Line Sanitary Sewer from Hoover Park Drive to Reeves Way Boulevard. The work will extend the life of the sewer.

North Don Collector Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation — Markham and Vaughan
York Region is rehabilitating a 2 kilometre section of the North Don Collector Sewer and associated maintenance holes. The work will occur on the nature trails and walkways within the Uplands Golf and Ski Club and the Thornhill Golf and Country Club.

Northeast Vaughan Wastewater Servicing

Stouffville Elevated Tank Upgrades
The elevated water tank facilities will be upgraded to extend the lifespan of the tank and ensure the continued supply of safe, quality drinking water.

Sutton Water Resource Recovery Facility Upgrades
York Region will be improving the Sutton Water Resource Recovery Facility, located at 5741 Black River Road, in the community of Sutton. From August 2020 to winter 2022, our crews will be building a new tank, constructing an extension to the sanitary forcemain and upgrading equipment.

YDSS Forcemain Twinning Project, Town of Newmarket
The sanitary sewer forcemain work includes twinning of about 5.2 km of the existing forcemain and some upgrades to Newmarket and Bogart Creek Pumping Stations.

York Peel Twin Forcemain Modification
York Region, in partnership with the Region of Peel, will be working to improve operations and maintainability of the York-Peel Twin Forcemain. The work includes replacing valves and other modifications to the forcemain.
