Check out our recipe plans, updated weekly, if you need some ideas on what to make. If you want to mix it up and use some of our ideas and some of your own, that’s great too! Tip: If you didn’t have turkey over the weekend, this recipe works just as well with chicken

Tip: For extra flavour, serve with 10- minute

Wednesday, October 16

Unstuffed Pepper Casserole is a simple, time-saving twist on traditional stuffed peppers. 
Tip: Serve with any leftover vegetables you have from the weekend

Lentil Shepherd’s Pie is a meatless meal that’s still packed with protein after a week full of leftovers and turkey.

Friday, October 18

Sometimes short work weeks seem like the longest. Keep it simple tonight by making Trendy Toast with Roasted Vegetables. Complete your meal with a pretty Yogurt Parfait.

Saturday, October 19

Slow Cooker Shredded Chicken is a great addition to your recipe collection! Once you put the ingredients together, the slow cooker does the rest. One of our go-to recipes is Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes with Cabbage
Tip: Use the chicken in your favourite salad, or include in a wrap or pita and save the extra chicken and cabbage for “planned-overs” next week

Spice up your tomato sauce with Everyday Meatballs. Serve with Caesar salad and Make Your Own Dressing. Bake Local Harvest Muffins for a quick snack or breakfast next week.

Try Lazy Weeknight Lasagna, a simple twist on classic lasagna. This dish packs all the flavor of traditional lasagna into a dish with half the effort. Take this meal to the next level by making a green salad served with Maple Dijon Mustard Salad Dressing.

Thursday, October 3

Better Butter Chickpeas are a must try. Make a double-batch and freeze extra in one-serving portions for a quick lunch or hassle-free meal. Try this recipe for Garlic Oregano Zucchini as a great side dish.

Friday, October 4

Keep it simple on Friday night with a fan-favourite! Use the extra chicken you prepared on Tuesday to make Easy Chicken BBQ pizza.

Saturday, October 5

For Saturday’s supper, pick your protein of choice for delicious Lo Mein.
Tip: This recipe tastes best with shrimp, tofu or pork

Monday, October 7

This recipe for Maple Soy Glazed Salmon served with steamed green beans and quinoa is an excellent way to start the week.
Tip: Make extra quinoa for Wednesday’s dinner

Tuesday, October 8

Lettuce on these Asian Chicken Wraps adds a fresh crunch for a quick weeknight meal.

Using the Granola you made last week, end the meal with delicious Baked Apples, which are in season and can be found locally.

Wednesday, October 9

Use the extra quinoa made on Monday and throw together a colourful Beets and Sweets Bowl with Creamy Balsamic Dressing.

Wednesday, October 16, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. - Simple and healthy meals and snacks

Are you trying to cook more often but just don’t know what to cook that’s simple, healthy and fast? This cooking workshop could be for you. Join Public Health Nutrition staff for a hands-on experience where you will learn how to take one recipe and turn it into two, using local, fresh produce while reducing your food waste. Don’t miss out. Space is limited. Registration required.

Tuesday, October 29, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Knife Skills: A Chef’s Guide to Cuts, Shortcuts and Food Waste

This hands-on workshop will walk you through some basic knife skills bringing a deep respect and understanding for everything the knife touches. Chef Julian Pancer will be sharing over 15 years of professional experience, as participants are given a full scope of all things knife. Avoiding food waste will be the main focal point of this workshop, minimizing waste through honed knife skills and education of how to use everything. Participants will be guided through all styles of cuts and cooking methods for a selection of meats, fruits, and vegetables and will be eating everything they prepare, so bring an appetite! Space is limited. Registration required.
