York Region Paramedic Services hires paramedics periodically to provide medical services in York Region.
Paramedic Services Recruitment Process
Paramedics hired by York Region undergo an extensive recruitment process that involves written testing, driver testing, observance of clinical skills through scenarios and an interview.
Interested individuals must enroll and complete a college or university level paramedic education and training program. Upon completion of the program, prospective candidates must then complete at least 450 hours on the road in preceptorship to practice their clinical skills and engage in patient contact before they can write the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Advanced Emergency Medical Care exam (AEMCA).
Upon successful completion of these requirements, candidates may then apply to become a York Region Paramedic.
