Home Visits for New Moms

The Home Visiting Program is a free program where Public Health nurses are available to visit to young, first-time moms during their pregnancy and the first two years of their child’s life in the privacy of their own homes through the Nurse-Family Partnership ® (NFP).

The program can help ensure women:

  • Have a healthy pregnancy
  • Have healthy children
  • Meet school and/or work goals

Who can participate?

You can enroll if you are:

  • Under 25 years of age
  • Pregnant with your first child and/or first-time parenting
  • Pregnant 28 weeks or less
  • Experiencing financial hardship or limited access to resources

What will you talk about during your home visits?

  • Ways to have a healthy pregnancy and baby
  • How to develop your parenting skills
  • Ways to build a strong network of support for you and your baby
  • Goal setting for the future Ways to support you as a mother while creating a safe and nurturing environment for you and your baby
  • Which community resources are available to you and how to connect with those that align with your needs and wants
  • Building life skills such as budgeting, managing stress and preparing healthy meals
