New Drop-by Program for people experiencing homelessness
York Region is offering a new Drop-by Program in Newmarket in partnership with Inn From the Cold, Krasman Centre and Town of Newmarket. The program provides vital services and supports to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness within a safe and warm environment.
The Drop-by Program offers access to:
Lunch, snacks, coffee, tea, and other beverages
Personal care services (washroom, shower and personal care items)
Mental health supports
Wellness checks
Access to a computer and Wi-Fi
Use of telephones
Information and referrals
Newmarket Drop-by Program
Location: Ray Twinney Recreation Complex (Multi-Purpose Room) at 100 Eagle Street West in Newmarket (enter at the north west side of building) When: Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed on weekends and holidays) Questions? Emergency Housing
All individual adults, youth, or couples seeking shelter during cold weather alerts can contact the Transitional Shelter Intake Line at 1-877-464-9675 ext. 76140 or email TransitionalShelter.Line@york.ca. Families with children experiencing homelessness should contact the Family Shelter at Leeder Place by calling Blue Door at 1-888-554-5525.
