16th AVENUE, MINGAY AVENUE TO NINTH LINE Notice of Construction

CITY OF MARKHAM

York Region has successfully completed a pilot project in your community to rehabilitate sections of the existing sanitary sewer on 16th Avenue, in the City of Markham. During the pilot project, inspections of the 16th Avenue sewer identified structural concerns that require a full rehabilitation of the sewer between Mingay Avenue to Ninth Line.

Some of the existing equipment from the pilot project will remain on site. The installation of a sewage bypass will begin in late May/June with the full sewer rehabilitation work beginning in July 2017. The full sewer rehabilitation is expected to be completed by August, 2018. As with all construction work, some work may be rescheduled due to weather.

To minimize the impact to residents and businesses, night-time or weekend work may be necessary; however, all work will be completed in accordance with the local bylaws. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.
