6 Confirmed COVID-19 cases linked to fitness classes in Town of Aurora, exposure between November 9, 2020 and November 14, 2020



York Region Public Health is issuing a public notice of a cluster of COVID-19 cases related to fitness classes held at Aurora Fit Body Boot Camp, located at 255 Industrial Parkway South in the Town of Aurora. Individuals later confirmed to be COVID-19 positive attended fitness classes at this facility between Monday, November 9, 2020 and Saturday, November 14, 2020 between 5:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. each day.

York Region Public Health was notified of the first confirmed case on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Since being notified, York Region Public Health has identified a total of 6 confirmed cases of COVID-19 associated with these fitness classes.

Each class has a maximum capacity of 8 individuals. Aurora Fit Body Boot Camp and its patrons have been acting in compliance with current public health measures, including physical distancing, not sharing equipment, and use of hand sanitizer and disinfectant. However, during a fitness class, face coverings or masks are not worn by those participating.

York Region Public Health has been in contact with the workplace to identify potential exposures and provide guidance to support safe operations and is following up with high-risk close contacts.

To support contact tracing and notification to individuals who are considered at low risk of exposure, if you attended one of these fitness classes please see information below:

Risk to residents who attended any of these fitness classes: low risk of exposure

Any individuals who attended one or more of the fitness classes noted above are advised to:

  • Self-monitor for 14 days until Sunday, November 29, 2020
  • If any symptoms of COVID-19 develop, seek assessment and testing at a COVID-19 Assessment Centre and continue to isolate while waiting for your results
  • Call the local public health unit you reside in and advise you attended fitness classes at this location during the dates and times noted above

York Region Public Health is conducting case and contact management activities associated with the confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Testing for COVID-19 is available for anyone:

  • Showing symptoms of COVID-19
  • Exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 as informed by York Region Public Health or by exposure notification through the COVID Alert App
  • Who lives or works in a setting with a COVID-19 outbreak
  • Eligible for testing as part of a targeted testing initiative directed by the Ministry of Health of Ministry of Long-Term Care

As COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community, residents are reminded to follow public health advice to wash hands often, practice physical distancing, wear a mask in indoor settings or when physical distance of 2 metres cannot be maintained and remain at home if you are sick. All residents are also encouraged to download the COVID Alert App.

All Ontarians are advised to only be in close contact with the people living in their own household and maintain 2 metres physical distancing from everyone else.
