Steeles Avenue to Highway 7
In the City of Vaughan

The Regional Municipality of York (York Region) works hard to maintain the excellent condition of Regional roads for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users. York Region is making improvements to Islington Avenue between Steeles Avenue and Highway 7 in the City of Vaughan. 

Construction began in late August and is expected to be complete in late spring 2021. This work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or delays related to COVID-19 and Public Health guidelines. York Region will provide advance notice whenever possible.

Road improvements include:

• Removal of the top asphalt
• Laying of new asphalt
• Installation of pedestrian Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act features including push buttons, curb depressions and tactile (raised) walkways

Islington Avenue will remain open to traffic throughout construction, and access to residences and businesses will be maintained. However, to accommodate construction, temporary lane reductions may be required between Monday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and to accommodate paving, lane restrictions will be in place between 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. York Region will make every effort to minimize disruptions and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
