Improvements continue on section three of this project, from the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks to Islington Avenue. Construction on the bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks is taking place over the winter months and will continue throughout the year.

Upcoming work on the bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks includes driving 218 steel beams (piles) into the ground on each side of the tracks to provide support for the bridge. The installation of the steel beams will commenced late March and will continue until the second week of June. Work will be taking place between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and traffic will not be affected during this time.

During the installation of the steel beams, residents adjacent to the construction site may experience increased noise and possible vibrations in their homes. Vibration monitoring devices will be installed within the construction limits to measure if excessive levels of vibration are due to the construction activity.

Motorists will continue to use the temporary Major Mackenzie Drive detour until the bridge construction is complete.

Safety

For everyone’s safety, please reduce your speed through the construction area. Please contact us if you notice any safety issues in and around the construction sites.
