Walk and Talk with York Region’s Chief Planner

York Region is hosting a walking tour of downtown Aurora to showcase urbanization in the heritage downtown. Over the past 5 years, Aurora’s downtown has undergone a transformation for people of all ages including a mix of shops, recreation, jobs, housing and transportation options while maintaining its historical character.

Come out and hear from Regional and local planning, economic development and transportation staff on how Aurora is being developed as part of the Region’s larger city building initiative. York Region Public Health will also be in attendance to promote the benefits of healthy built environments.

This 1.5 hour tour will include stops along the main corridor of Yonge Street to see many developments both completed, ongoing and to come and the GO Station Area along Wellington. Other points of interests along the tour include the: Town Park, Church Street School Cultural Centre, Library Square, Wells Street School lofts and the Armoury. Wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

The tour will begin and end at Aurora Public Library (15145 Yonge Street). Register here

York Region is currently undertaking the Municipal Comprehensive Review (MCR) process to update the Regional Official Plan. The updated Official Plan will guide decisions on land use planning and infrastructure delivery, while building on direction provided through provincial planning documents. Stay informed at
