2nd Concession Re-Opening Street Festival 

Join us as we officially mark the completion of 2nd Concession road improvements 

Newmarket – On Saturday, September 16, residents and media are invited to attend the 2nd Concession Re-Opening Street Festival. The event marks the completion of road improvements to enhance travel options and public space in the area.


Saturday, September 16, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

2nd Concession Road (at Rogers Reservoir)
Town of East Gwillimbury
Residents and media coming to the event can park at East Gwillimbury GO station where shuttle service will take you to the event at Rogers Reservoir.


Official remarks begin at 11 a.m.
Street Festival to follow, including:

  • Free barbecue (while quantities last)
  • Cycling and walking tours and interactive displays
  • Live music
  • Vehicle displays from East Gwillimbury Fire Services, York Regional Police, York Region Paramedic Services and East Gwillimbury Public Works

2nd Concession Road has undergone major improvements, including road widening to four lanes between Green Lane and Doane Road and a new boardwalk and trail crossings for pedestrians and cyclists.

This project was completed in partnership with the Town of East Gwillimbury, the Town of Newmarket and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority. Construction on 2nd Concession began in 2014 with a portion of the road closed, re-opening to traffic in November 2016.
