“The Regional Municipality of York has been notified of a fatality related to COVID-19.

A 54-year-old female worked as a Personal Support Worker in a long-term care facility in the City of Toronto. The City of Markham resident died on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

On behalf of York Regional Council, I extend sincere condolences to her family, colleagues and loved ones.

Individuals working on the front lines of this global pandemic are our true heroes.

Now more than ever it is critical for residents to follow the advice of public health professionals. It remains vitally important for everyone to maintain physical distancing, practice good hand washing and only go out for essential trips.

Together, we can protect one another. Together, we will get through this.”
