York Region launches electric bus pilot and hosts Climate Wise Mayor’s Challenge kick-off event

Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is helping launch two initiatives that focus on mitigating climate change and taking steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The event will include the launch of York Region’s first battery electric buses which are currently operating in the Town of Newmarket. Complimenting the electric bus demonstration is an event to kick off the Climate Wise Mayor’s Challenge. Initiated by Town of Newmarket Mayor John Taylor, this friendly competition is designed to recognize cities and towns with the best and most improved Ontario Energy and Water Reporting and Benchmarking participation rates.
