Peel, chop, mix: York Region students cook off!

Newmarket – Members of the media are invited to join three finalist teams from elementary schools across York Region as they compete in The Regional Municipality of York’s first You’re the Chef Cook-off at Oak Ridges Community Centre in the Town of Richmond Hill.

Students submitted recipes and photos of vegetarian entrees and will prepare their winning recipe in front of a panel of judges and a live audience during Ontario Local Food week. The grand prize winner will receive quality kitchen equipment for their school and a group cooking lesson from local wellness chef Andrew Muto.

Judging panel:

  • Andrew Muto, local wellness chef
  • A registered dietician
  • A local farmer
  • A local Grade 12 student from Richmond Green Secondary School
