Temporary road closure: McCowan Road

Road closure will begin Monday, June 5 and re-open Friday, December 22

Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is replacing Gibney Bridge on McCowan Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury. The new bridge will be longer and higher to meet current standards, and wider to provide additional space for pedestrians and cyclists.

To complete this work, McCowan Road at Gibney Bridge between Queensville Sideroad and Holborn Road is scheduled to be closed beginning Monday, June 5, 2017 and re-open by Friday, December 22, 2017.

Local access will be maintained to properties within the closed section.

We recognize construction can be disruptive and are making every effort to minimize disruptions and keep all informed with regular updates. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

As with other road construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide notice whenever possible.

York Region reminds residents to please reduce speed in the construction area and thanks motorists for their patience.
