York Region Celebrates Pride Month

Chairment Statement Picture

As Pride festivities begin across our country, York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York join in celebrating Pride Month and pay tribute to those in our community who have fought to achieve equality and acceptance – and those who continue that effort today.

During Pride Month, York Region celebrates our vibrant and proud LGBTQ2 community and the countless contributions and progress made towards building a more inclusive Region.

As one of Canada’s fastest growing and most diverse communities, York Region embraces all dimensions of diversity and is grounded in the belief our greatest strength is the ability to build communities that celebrate and value everyone’s contributions and differences.

This Pride Month we honour the pioneers, trailblazers and all Canadians who work tirelessly to raise awareness about the rich culture and history of LGBTQ2 rights. On behalf of our 1.2 million residents, thank you for helping to build a strong, caring, safe community where each and every one of us is free to celebrate our own identity.

York Region Chairman and CEO
