York Region outdoor water use advisory
Residents and businesses requested to restrict water use during Environment Canada’s heat warning
Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is requesting residents and businesses restrict water use during Environment Canada’s heat warning.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for York Region. This heat event is expected to continue into Saturday.
With prolonged heat, water system challenges can be experienced. During this time, York Region is requesting residents and businesses to voluntarily restrict water use, including:
- Non-essential indoor and outdoor water use
- Outdoor water use for irrigation
- Pool filling
Restricting water use will help ensure there is enough water in the system for an emergency, such as firefighting capabilities. For more tips on conserving water, please visit york.ca/waterfortomorrow
