York Region’s Remembrance Day Service to reflect the sacrifices made by our war veterans



Newmarket –The Regional Municipality of York will hold its annual Remembrance Day service to honour the sacrifices made by Canadian war veterans on Monday, November 11, 2019, beginning at 10:25 a.m.

Members of the public and media representatives are invited to join Regional staff for the ceremony.

  • York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson
  • York Regional Police Deputy Chief Jim MacSween
  • York Region Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Macgregor
  • Captain Audrey Brown, Chaplain 8 Wing, CFB Trenton, Canadian Armed Forces
  • Warrant Officer Jessica Miller, Canadian Armed Forces
  • Lieutenant Colonel Greg Stasyna, Canadian Armed Forces
  • Dave Neeson, Vice Chair CUPE Local 905 and Master of Ceremonies

Background:

  • Two minutes of silence will be observed at 11 a.m.
  • The ceremony will feature York Regional Police and York Region Paramedic Services Colour Guard Piper, York Regional Police Detective Peter Fleming and representatives from the Toronto Signals Band and Canadian Armed Forces
  • The Presentation of Wreaths will be conducted in memory of all veterans, soldiers, sailors and airmen
