York Region Transit service changes takes effect June 30, 2019

Newmarket – York Region Transit (YRT) service changes will take effect Sunday, June 30, 2019. Over 20 YRT routes will have schedule and frequency adjustments. These service changes will improve connections and operational performance.

Route highlights/service changes include:

  • Schedules will be adjusted on Viva blue, purple, orange and yellow after 10 p.m.
  • Route 4 – Major Mackenzie will detour on McNaughton Road and Keele Street due to a full road closure on Major Mackenzie Drive between McNaughton/Avro Road and Keele Street
  • Route 25 – Major Mackenzie will service the Major Mackenzie Drive/Highway 404 carpool lot
  • Routes 223/223A – Newmarket GO Shuttle, 242 – Richvale GO Shuttle and 320 – Newmarket-Beaver Creek Express will be discontinued
  • Route 589/590 will be renamed to Richmond Hill Local; weekend service will be discontinued
  • Route 522 will be renamed to Markham Local; weekend service will be discontinued
  • Route 520/521will be renamed to Newmarket Local; weekend service will be discontinued
  • Route 760 – Vaughan Mills/Wonderland weekday service to Canada’s Wonderland returns on July 2
  • With the end of the 2018/2019 academic year, all 400-series School Special routes will be suspended for the summer

Riders are encouraged to visit to review changes that may affect travel plans, including various seasonal and frequency adjustments.

Travellers wanting to be more familiar with YRT service are also encouraged to discover transit through the myRide Travel Training Program. myRide is for customers of all ages and abilities who would like additional knowledge and skills in order to use YRT independently. The myRide program offers travel training and transit presentations, as well as group and individual travel training.
