The Regional Municipality Of York

Enjoy the fabulous York Regional Forest in the fall!

With cooler weather and colourful leaves, fall is a great time to experience the York Regional Forest. Visit September 20 to 26 and celebrate National Forest Week’s 100th anniversary. Discover the sights and trails as part of the theme Healthy Forests – Healthy Future.

Did you know? Spending time outside is good for your body and mind. Walking and enjoying nature’s sights and sounds has been shown to decrease blood pressure, stress and lower the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes. Being outdoors is particularly good for our well-being in these uncertain times of increased stress and anxiety.

To ensure your safety and the safety of others while visiting the forest please:

  • Leash dogs at ALL times
  • Stoop and scoop all pet waste
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not litter, including garbage, gloves and masks and pet waste
  • Practice physical distancing of at least 2-metres
  • Wear a cloth or non-medical mask where physical distancing may be challenging
  • Practice proper hand hygiene
  • Stay on trails to reduce risk and exposure to poison ivy and blacklegged ticks
  • Wear insect repellent, closed-toed footwear, light coloured, long sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into your socks
  • Check weather forecasts and dress accordingly
  • Be kind and act responsibly

Remember, the York Regional Forest is NOT an off-leash dog park. If you’re looking for somewhere to unleash your furry friend, check out the dog off-leash area at the Bendor and Graves Tract found near the parking lot at 17858 McCowan Road.
