Into the holiday weekend

Online call with grandparents

Holidays are typically a time to reflect, gather and celebrate. The reality is these are not typical times.

This year, due to COVID-19, we understand you may not be able to celebrate the same as in the past.

Heading into this holiday weekend, it is important for everyone to think about celebrating Passover, Easter, Ramadan, as well as other religious events and occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays, in a different way. We encourage you to stay connected and celebrate with loved ones and friends over the phone, on video chat or by doing at-home activities with those in your household.

Effective March 28, 2020, the Government of Ontario prohibited all organized public events of over five people, including parades, weddings, events and communal services within places of worship, to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Residents are reminded of the importance to:

  • Stay home whenever possible
  • Avoid non-essential trips in the community
  • Postpone or cancel all gatherings
  • Practice physical distancing (stay 2 metres away from others) at all times
  • Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often

By staying home and practicing physical distancing, we can all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep everyone safe and healthy.
