New Pedestrian Crossing Signal News Item Graphic

New pedestrian crossing signal on Mulock Drive in the Town of Newmarket

York Region’s Traffic Signal Policy is in place to ensure the installation of traffic signals is beneficial, to balance movement on a major corridor, and facilitate access to local communities.  Mulock Drive in the Town of Newmarket is a high volume road connecting to highways and communities and it’s part of a thriving neighbourhood with schools, shops and gathering places.  Sidewalks along Mulock Drive connect pedestrians to destinations like Newmarket High School, the Magna Centre and a popular trail system and conservation area.   This new signal allows pedestrians, especially students at Newmarket High School, to safely cross Mulock Drive.  When pedestrians push the button, the red light is activated and  drivers must stop for the new pedestrian crossing on Mulock Drive.

York Region prioritizes signal  installations. To learn more or to request a traffic signal installation, visit york.ca/traffic . If you would like to request a traffic signal installation, email traffic@york.ca
