By lowering the flags outside of the York Region Administrative Centre to half-mast, Regional Council is honouring the life and impact of Ronald Dancey, a former Regional Councillor and Markham Deputy Mayor who passed away on August 31, 2018.

Mr. Dancey never shied away from hard work and he was dedicated to serving the York Region community. Following a term as a Markham Ward Councillor, he served two terms on York Regional Council over five years between 1980 and 1985. And, as a member of Council, he served on both the Planning Committee and the York Central Hospital Board.

Outside of the political arena, Mr. Dancey was a licensed mechanic and owned businesses in both Markham and Toronto. He published the Markham-Unionville Times and upon moving to Cambridge owned and operated a meat packing business.

Regional Council offers sincere thoughts and condolences to the Mr. Dancey’s family and friends.
