Schomberg Water Treatment Plant

Technology upgrades at the Schomberg Water Treatment Plant at 210 Western Avenue have been ongoing and will continue for the remainder of the year. The work at the water treatment plant does not affect your drinking water.

As with all of York Region’s drinking water, the tap water in Schomberg has always met Ontario’s strict drinking water quality standards.

Dr. Kay Sewage Pumping Station Notice of Construction

The Regional Municipality of York is working in your community, upgrading the Dr. Kay Sewage Pumping Station at 115 Dr. Kay from July 2019 to January 2020. The wastewater pumping capacity at the station will be increased to reduce the risks of service interruptions due to extreme rain events and storms. Your water and wastewater services will not be affected by the upgrades to the pumping station.

What can you expect?

  • Work is limited to the pumping station; there may be an increase in construction-related traffic in and out of the station
  • Due to the nature of the work, there will be some construction-related noise and dust from the equipment and trucks, every effort to minimize this will be made
  • There is the possibility of a temporary lane restriction on Dr. Kay Drive; additional information will be provided if a temporary lane restriction is needed
  • Access to all homes and buildings will be maintained

As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather or other conditions. Visit york.ca/waterconstruction for more information about water and wastewater construction projects.
