Support parents and caregivers on National Child Day

National Child Day – November 20, 2020

National Child Day

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the development and mental health of children and youth in unprecedented ways. For parents and caregivers, the challenge of maintaining their child’s physical and mental well-being has proven to be especially difficult during this time, with 40% of caregivers having reported deterioration in their children’s behaviour or mood, according to a recent survey conducted by McMaster University.

In honour of National Child Day, celebrated on Friday, November 20, York Region recognizes the child care and early learning professionals who work every day to keep kids healthy and safe. Your efforts to support parents and caregivers make a meaningful difference in the health of a child.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, York Region, together with our partners, offers supports for families with young children that parents and caregivers can access virtually. EarlyON agencies are providing programs and resources that are available online, as well as by telephone and email. Parents and caregivers who may be concerned about their child’s development can also receive support through York Region’s Early Intervention Services

To learn more about how to access live online programs and pre-recorded videos and resources from EarlyON agencies, visit york.ca/earlyon. For more resources, visit york.ca/children and york.ca/parenting as well our Pinterest page.
