April 26, 2019
Town of Newmarket

Join us at the Open House
York Region is making improvements to the York Durham Sewage System. Work will occur through the Town of Newmarket and include construction of a new forcemain parallel to the existing forcemain, known as forcemain twinning. It will also include modifications to the Newmarket and Bogart Creek Sewage Pumping Stations. The work will improve the York Durham Sewage System reliability and allow for future maintenance on the existing forcemain.
What is a forcemain?
A pressurized sewer pipe powered by pumping stations used to move your wastewater.
There are two dates available to meet the project team and learn more about the project.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 15, 2019 and Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Newmarket Community Centre - Hall 2, 200 Doug Duncan Drive, Newmarket, ON L3Y 3X1
The same material will be presented on both dates.
If you are unable to attend, information will be available to review on york.ca/forcemaintwinning beginning May 15, 2019.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE FORCEMAIN TWINNING PROJECT WILL BEGIN SPRING 2019
What can you expect?
- To prepare the construction area, select trees will be removed. Trees that have been removed will be replaced with new trees after construction.
- Construction will take place within work areas identified on the Project Work Area map. Work areas will be enclosed with hoarding (fencing) to limit disturbances, protect the public, and minimize noise.
- Access to all homes and buildings will be maintained during construction.
- Dedicated trucking routes have been identified to minimize impacts to local roads. Truck traffic will be controlled to reduce disruption in the evenings.
- Flag staff and paid-duty officers will be on-site.
- Tom Taylor Trail will remain open during construction. In the event of closure, signage will be posted informing the public of alternate routes.
- We are working with the Town of Newmarket to ensure impacts to Town events are minimized.
Safety is a priority for York Region. Please slow down when traveling through a construction area. Thank you for your patience while we complete this vital work.
