York Region celebrates historic signing of Inclusion Charter

Inclusion Charter York Region

On June 28, 2018, The Regional Municipality of York celebrated its endorsement of the Inclusion Charter for York Region in a presentation and official signing during a meeting of Regional Council. The Charter is a partnership initiative that has brought together businesses, community organizations and agencies, municipalities, police services, hospitals, school boards and conservation authorities with a common commitment to welcoming and inclusive communities.

The Charter embraces all dimensions of diversity and is grounded in the belief that our greatest strength is the ability to build communities that celebrate and values everyone’s differences and contributions. By endorsing the Charter, York Region and other participating organizations affirm a shared commitment to inclusion and to taking action to achieve the vison of the Charter in our organization and in the community.

York Region has taken an active role in the development of the Inclusion Charter for York Region, in collaboration with our external partners on the Municipal Diversity and Inclusion Group and the Community Partnership Council. Regional staff have also been instrumental in the Charter’s development. The vision of the Inclusion Charter for York Region, whereby all people feel they belong and have access to the same opportunities, is a vision we all share.
