York Region celebrates International Day of Older Persons

More people today are living into their senior years (broadly defined as after age 65) than at any other time in history. Most are entering these years in good health and staying that way longer. Infact, many are still working, volunteering, helping out their families, caring for grandchildren or putting more time into pursuing lifelong interests. In all of these roles, they contribute to the success and high quality of life in our communities.

On October 1 York Region  celebrates all seniors as part of International Day of Older Persons – a United Nations initiative held to educate the world on the positive impact seniors make in communities and the issues that affect their lives.

The Region is committed to supporting the health and well-being of our aging population through the York
Region Seniors Strategy. This plan looks at the changing senior population, defines a role in serving seniors and sets the course for action to best support the aging population over the next 10 to 20 years.

As York Region celebrates International Day of Older Persons, we’v shared a few inspirational quotes. Tell us what inspires you as you get older? #loveyr #inspirationalquotes
