York Region enters Stage 2 of re-opening

Wondering what you can do as York Region enters Stage 2?

The Provincial government has given York Region approval to enter Stage 2 of re-opening but what exactly does that mean?

It means more businesses will open, more employees will go back to the office, families can visit with loved ones and residents will be able to enjoy more of the activities they did prior to COVID-19.

York Region thanks residents, businesses and the community for their effort in slowing the spread of COVID-19, which has resulted in the transition to Stage 2.

As things in York Region continue to reopen, residents are reminded the virus is still active in the community and to continue to protect themselves and their families while venturing out in the community by:

Stage 2 means residents can:

Gather in groups of 10 or less

Attend a place of worship, wedding or funeral

Get a haircut, spa treatment, piercing or tattoo

Dine outdoors at a restaurant or bar

Shop at a mall

Go to day care or day camp

Use a splash pad, public pool or beach

Camp, take a guided tour

Paintball, mini-golf, go-cart

Go to a drive-in or thru attraction

Visit museums, galleries, aquariums, zoos

In Stage 2, there are still a number of things residents will not be able to do including:

Play on a public playground or use outdoor fitness equipment

Drop by a restaurant, café or bar for indoor dining services

Hold or attend a gathering of more than 10 people, festival, sporting event or concert

Utilize indoor driving ranges, rod and gun clubs

Visit an amusement or water park

Go to a gym, indoor sports facility, fitness facility or studio

Residents should note that while these activities are now permitted, it may take service providers, businesses and facilities time to revise operations to adhere to new provincial guidelines so not all will be open come June 19.

If you are ill or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, stay home or visit one of the three York Region assessment centres.
