York Region recognizes National Day of Mourning

Flags at half mast at York Region Administrative Centre

Every year on April 28, York Region pays our respects to, and remembers, the thousands of workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents across the country. We also honour the many families and friends who have been deeply affected by these tragedies. In recognition of this day – the National Day of Mourning – all York Region buildings flying flags will have them lowered to half-mast. These buildings include:

  • 17250 Yonge Street
  • 62 Bayview Parkway
  • 80 Bales Drive
  • 10 Riviera Drive
  • 12825 Keele Street
  • 21001 Dalton Road
  • 19442 2nd Concession
  • 415 Harry Walker Parkway
  • 22 Prospect Street
  • 90 Bales Drive
  • 16042 Woodbine Avenue
  • 2850 Rutherford Road
  • 3525 Baseline Road

York Region is deeply committed to the health and safety of our employees. We all have the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each work day.
