Employment Resource Centres
All York Region residents are welcome to visit an Employment Resource Centre at one of the local Ontario Works offices to use computers, fax machines, photocopiers and resources to look for employment. The centres are self-help, so be prepared to work on your own.
Job Search Handbook
You’ve probably heard that finding a job is a full-time job – an expression that has a lot of truth to it. Not only will you be looking for work – in perhaps new ways than you’ve used in the past – but you may be researching positions, getting experience through volunteer work, training for new skills and attending workshops to prepare for employment. This handbook and sample resumé will help you along the way. It outlines how you can identify your skills, develop a job goal, prepare for your job search and market yourself to employers.
