What are the benefits of this project?

  • Travellers will get a rehabilitated road and pedestrian features such as push buttons, upgraded walkways, curb depressions and tactile plates ensuring a safer commute for all road users.

What exactly is resurfacing?

  • The resurfacing of a road means the surface asphalt is removed and a new surface is laid.

Why do roads need to be resurfaced?

  • Once a road has been constructed, it is important to maintain it so the road can last for as long as possible before needing to be replaced completely. Roads are inspected regularly and maintenance, such as resurfacing, is completed when deemed necessary.

Are there any lane closures or reductions associated with this project?

  • Temporary lane reductions may be required to facilitate minor construction work between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  

Will there be any night work?

  • Major paving work will be completed at night and will take place between 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
  • During this time, lane reductions will be in place

Can pedestrians and cyclists still use the road?

  • Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained during construction
  • Restrictions at intersections may be required as work is completed and pedestrians may be directed to use an alternate side of the intersection to cross

Safety is a priority on all Regional construction sites. For everyone’s safety, please reduce your speed through the construction area.

Travellers are encouraged to use traffic and navigation tools. York Region provides real-time traffic and road information in open data, used by many app developers.
