The Regional Municipality Of York

York Region is committed to making its services accessible to people with disabilities in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. To achieve this goal York Region has established an Accessibility Policy and created an Accessibility Advisory Committee to advise on multi-year accessibility plans and accessibility policies.

The York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee (YRAAC) advises York Regional Council and Police on how to make it easier to use our programs and services.

York Region’s accessibility plans and policies are written to support the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA).

The Multi-Year Accessibility Plan outlines how York Region is meeting the requirements of the AODA and remove barriers to York Region’s programs, services and facilities.

York Region’s Accessibility Policy directs the Region’s efforts to meet the needs of people with disabilities and includes training on the importance of accessibility and implementing the AODA.
